'restore posture - restore health ...'
Many things can adversely affect posture: falls, stress, slumping, RSI, poor mattresses, accidents, lack of exercise, poor diet, malnutrition and gravity. If any of these effects continue over a period of time, then compensating changes/patterns start to take place in the spine and as a consequence the delicate systems of the body are changed.
Many people have postural distortions that are causing or contributing to their pain and discomfort and don't even know it.
In the west it is common for people to constantly look downwards as they are walking. This poor posture results in the head and shoulders slumping forward, the upper back and the back's lower lordotic curve increase. The rib cage and diaphragm sink in and down inhibiting breathing and putting pressure on the digestive system (heartburn, constipation etc).
Continued poor posture puts increasing pressure on the body and its internal organs which in turn results in many problems; back pain, headaches, dizziness, sinus problems, poor memory, poor digestion, heart and lung problems, hypertension, varicose veins, haemorrhoids, fluid retention, bladder and kidney problems to name a few.
Spinal Touch is capable of correcting these distortions and brings the body back into balance. Once balanced, the body is relieved of pain and dis-ease.
The therapy concentrates on re-aligning the pelvis and spine at the centre of gravity just above the sacrum. The sacrum is in the critical position of both supporting the entire spine and acting as the keystone for the pelvis. Eight major muscles fasten onto the sacrum connecting it with all other parts of the body.
The spine and pelvis are accurately assessed against a plumb line with the client standing on a specially designed foot board; this measurement determines the treatment i.e. the position and angle of the 'contact point'.
The client then lies face down on a couch; gentle 'rub out' moves are made along the spine, shoulders and on the neck which induce deep relaxation. It is whilst the body is relaxed that it is able to heal. During the treatment the therapist holds a contact point which begins the process of re-aligning the spine and pelvis. With the return to postural normality, the body is able to eliminate accumalated acidity and tension which can sometimes bring about immediate pain relief.
After treatment measurements are re-taken and any adjustments made. The effects of the treatment are often immediately visible. Clients often report that they feel taller, more balanced and relaxed.Regular treatments are advised to ensure that good posture and subsequently good health is maintained.
